The screening of Divya Spandana aka 'Kuthu' Ramya starrer Kannada movie 'Katari Veera Surasundarangi' at some cinema halls in Karnataka was forcibly stopped by protestors owing allegiance to Hindu organizations.

The activists opposed what they termed to be objectionable references to Hindu religion in the film. They kept shouting slogans against the film and its director. They tore the posters of the movie.

In a bid to end the controversy, Upendra who has played the lead role in the film and producer Muniratna met Shiroor Mutt seer Sri Laxmivaratheertha Swamiji on Monday to apologize for the “objectionable remarks” in their movie.

Meanwhile, reacting to allegations that the Censor Board was liberal in allowing the movie, Regional Officer K Nagraj said they didn't find anything objectionable in the film. "A five-member committee watched the 3D and 2D versions," he said.
