At the pre-release event of 'Republic', Pawan Kalyan accused the Jaganmohan Reddy government of trying to subvert the liberty of film producers, distributors and exhibitors by floating an online ticketing platform that he said is going to have a monopoly over the sale of cinema tickets. In his latest interview, producer Bunny Vasu said that the government has no such plans at all.
Vasu, who belongs to the Mega camp and bankrolls movies on GA2 Pictures, said that the government's only aim is to ensure transparency. "The government portal will only be one of the channels selling tickets. Box office ticketing and ticketing through other portals will continue. The government wants integration to happen so that it becomes easy for it to ascertain revenues and ensure tax compliance. For producers, too, it is going to be easy because we will not need to bother about hiring representatives for each theatre when our movie releases. Keeping a track becomes easy," Vasu said.
He suggested that the speculations about the government eyeing revenues of films to pocket for its own benefit are totally ill-founded. This is the view of other producers who met AP Minister Perni Nani recently.
It is now clear that the likes of Dil Raju and Suniel Narang don't agree with Pawan Kalyan's views.
