Promo watch - Naksha

  • IndiaGlitz, [Monday,July 31 2006]

Bollywood has seen a variety of genres on which films have been made. While during last few months comedies have been working in a big way, a couple of years back it was the horror genre that worked with the audience and a little before it was sex'n'sleaze that enticed the viewers to the theatres. There have been family movies, social flicks and usual action dramas but rarely have there been films belonging to adventure genre! Yes, there have been films belonging to 'road' genre but none in the recent times that have explored the outdoors in such an extravagant way as the soon-to-be-released 'Naksha', an action/adventure, promises to be!

A Secret Guarded By The Gods
A Power Desired By Mankind
A Map, The Key To It All

As soon as the opening fire-lit captions begin the promo of 'Naksha', you know you are in for an unique'n'intriguing ride. With the message about the film's subject being revealed in a tantalizing manner, you are hooked in a matter of 5 seconds to check what is Naksha' all about? Gods, power, map, key - is it a mythological flick or a treasure hunt? Is it set in modern times or deals with ancient times?

Vibrant beats of 'tabla' take you through a journey forward as the camera zooms past hills, ravines and seas to take you to a world hitherto unknown! And when Sunny Deol arrives on the screen dressed in a Robin hood outfit with an outstretched bow and arrow, you are finally assured that it is actually a Hindi film that you are watching!

Two Men Will Unravel The Past
Battle The Present
To Safeguard Our Future

A tale about past, present and future would never have got such exciting as is conveyed in the subsequent shots! And there are two men who will aspire to beat the mightiest of all!

While one is Sunny Deol, a few seconds later you get to know that the second man in question is Vivek Oberoi who is shown kicking and boxing around the baddies in the middle of the mountains! Zingy'n'pacy background music is just an ideal companion of this adventure thriller that reaches its crescendo when a huge cave comes on screen with a mega gate that resembles like a monster's face! Dark lights create suspense around the proceedings as kicks, punches and some raw action happen all around!

Wait, this is not all as Jackie Shroff's character is introduced from behind! In the cave made of huge multistoried pillars and boasting of a massive ambience, Jackie's huge built is further enhanced by his specially designed costumes that give him a fearful persona. As a main baddie in the film, he makes for quite a towering impact as shots of a crumbled browned out map arrives on the screen.

As the promo progresses, the long distance shots of the three people in search of the map, Sunny Deol, Viveik Oberoi and Sameera Reddy, are shown traversing the mountains, hence giving the film a larger than life appeal. Air, water and earth are encountered as the heroes jump from the mountain peaks, beat the gushing river flows through rafts and fight a battle with the villains on the earth as the protagonists try to 'unlock the mystery' by getting hold of the 'naksha'!

What is it that these men are trying to get hold of? What is its relevance to the past? Why is the present insecure about this? And how does our future depend upon this subject?

To get answers to all these questions, watch out for this debut directorial venture of Sachin Bajaj that unleashes on the big screen this September!
