The Active Telugu Film Producers Guild of the Telugu film industry has taken a new decision with respect to the remuneration of artists and technicians doing Telugu films. Because of the crisis plaguing the film industry, salary cuts have been imposed on artists and technicians.
A decision has been taken to reduce 20% remuneration for artists who charge above Rs 20,000 per day. In other words, the rule won't be applicable to those who charge less than Rs 20,000 per day.
Besides, technicians who charge more than Rs 5 lakh per film will have to take a 20% paycut.
The remunerations that they were charging before the onset of COVID-19 will be considered for the purpose of calculation.
"The film industry is facing a lot of unknowns currently. Theatres will be operating at only 50% occupancy. It's uncertain how many will flock theatres. The overseas theatrical market has come down to zero," the Guild said on Saturday.
"After very fruitful discussions with the Movie Artistes Association, we have been able to arrive at an understanding that will set the tone and help us lift ourselves from this situation in the near future," the Guild added.
