The Telugu Film Producers' Council has minced no words in calling out a particular website-cum-periodical for allegedly writing falsehoods, mala fide news, and resorting to character assassination of film personalities.
"Most recently, the website has spewed venom on Vijay Deverakonda, who has been carrying out welfare activities through his NGO. Regarding this, it published unfounded, unjustified and false news as a blackmailing tactic. This must be an attempt to please their behind-the-scenes bosses and receive alms from them," TFPC's statement says.
It alleges that the owner of the site had started his activities in the US but couldn't continue to do so because of "stringent rules and regulations" in that country. Following this, he shifted base to Bengaluru, where he is said to be running the website from "underground".
"We producers are losing out huge revenues due to wrong ratings given by this periodical to Telugu movies. The website has been demanding huge monies from producers for giving positive ratings for our movies," the statement adds.
