While everyone was reporting that director Muthiah will direct Suriya's next, suddenly young director Vignesh Sivan's name popped up. On the day of Vinayakar Chathruthi festival (September 5) it was officially confirmed that the director of 'Naanum Rowdy Dhan' will be directing Suriya's next film after 'S3', for which he is presently shooting for. This would be the versatile star's 35th film.

The reason for this sudden change is unknown.

Vignesh Sivan in a recent interview revealed that K.E.Gnanavel Raja asked him whether he has a story for Suriya and then facilitated a meeting with the star. Suriya was instantly impressed with the story narrated by Vignesh Sivan and he was asked to get ready with the complete script to which the young filmmaker obliged and finished the final draft of the script very soon and narrated it to the hero.

This is how 'Suriya 35' seems to have happened. The film will be produced by Suriya under his 2D Entertainments banner and K.E.Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green banner. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in for the musical score.
