'Pathu Thala' is the latest gangster drama in town featuring Simbu and Gautham Karthik in the lead roles. The film was released last week and opened to a good response from the audience. Obeli N Krishna directed the movie, which was jointly produced by Studio Green and Pen Studios.

The producers officially announced last week that Pathu Thala became STR's career-highest first-day grosser. Today, the makers dropped a press release on social media to thank the audience, media, cast and crew for making the film a highly profitable venture. The statement from producer KE Gananavel Raja read:

"Our film Pathu Thala today entered 2nd week in over 300 screens in Tamil Nadu and across the globe in over 500 screens. It gives us great happiness to see our film getting such a raving response from audience and we wish to thank whole-heartedly the fans of Silambarasan (STR) and the general audience for this support to our film. We also wish to thank reviewers and media for their phenomenal encouragement, which boosted the film's appeal.

The film Pathu Thala has earned one of the highest revenues in Silambarasan's career and became a hugely profitable venture for our production. We are thankful to Silambarasan (STR) for being a part of this film and helping us to achieve this through his wonderful support, especially during the audio launch event and other promotions, which created a sensation and helped the film in many ways in achieving its success.

Our special thanks and gratitude to A.R. Rahman sir, who amidst his busy schedules, supported our film in every way, giving us chartbuster songs, which are on top for many weeks, fantastic BGM score on time, been a part of the audio launch event and other promotions, which greatly helped in the reach of our film.

Krishna, who maintained his enthusiasm throughout this three-year journey of the film and delivered a quality commercial entertainer, which appealed to all sections of audience and helped us to pre-sell various rights of the film at the best possible prices.
