Yesterday a Chennai Municipal Court issued arrest warrant against veteran film producer and Tamil Film Producers Council President Kalapuli.S.Thanu.

The warrant was issued by the Court based on a case filed by a theatre owner in Nagercoil alleging that Thanu has cheated him by not giving Rs.2 lakhs that the latter owes to him.

The 'Kabali' and 'Theri' producer has refuted this allegation as completely bogus. In a statement released to the Press, Thanu has said "This is a bogus case. The problem is between the person who distributed my production venture 'Thirumagan' released in 2007 and this theatre owner. However the latter has dragged my name in this case with ulterior motives. I have not received a single penny from this person. The truth will come out in a day or two."
