Producer Gnanavel Raja issues a clarification statement following heavy backlash in ‘Paruthiveeran’ controversy

Leading actor Karthi entered the film industry with director Ameer’s ‘Paruthiveeran’ in 2007, which is a dream debut for any actor. The movie turned out to be a cult classic and became a huge success critically and commercially. Meanwhile, there has been a cold war between Ameer and producer Gnanavel Raja ever since the film started.

Gnanavel Raja made his debut as a producer with Paruthiveeran. A case filed by Ameer against the production side is still going on in the court. Recently, Gnanavel Raja accused Ameer of embezzling several crores from him after Ameer stated that Gnanavel Raja was the reason for the rift between him and the Suriya family.

We saw that Ameer, Sasikumar, Samuthirakani, Ponvannan, Sudha Kongara, Karu Palaniappan, Bharathiraja and many celebrities came in support of director Ameer in this issue and condemned Gnanavel Raja for his disrespectful talk and false accusations. Now, Gnanavel Raja has put out a statement through his banner Studio Green regretting his remarks. It is going viral. Here’s the translation of his press release:

“The ‘Paruthi Veeran’ problem has been going on for the past 17 years. I haven’t talked about it until this day. I will always refer to him as “Ameer Anna”. I have been close to his family since the beginning. His false accusations against me in his recent interviews hurt me a lot. I am sincerely sorry if some of the words I used while replying offended him. Cinema makes me live. I really respect it and everyone who works in it. Thank you!

With love,

Gnanavel Raja.”
