Today is the birthday of leading producer, distributor and above all an ardent film enthusiast K.E.Gnanavel Raja.

Gnanavel Raja launched his production house Studio Green to produce the Suriya-Jyothika starrer romantic flick 'Sillunu Oru Kadhal'. In the same year he produced the path breaking blockbuster 'Paruthiveeran' which was also the debut film of Suriya's younger brother Karthi. Since then he has been associated with many films of these two highly talented heroes during their ups and downs.

At the same time Raja kept concentrating on distribution and production of others' films as well. He has associated with young generation producers like C.V.Kumar and Abhinesh Ilangovan. He has invested in small or medium budget films such as 'Soodhu Kavvum' and 'Darling' to name a few and played a vital role in their success. At the same time he has also joined as the producer or distributor of biggies like Kamal Haasan's 'Uttama Villain', Mani Ratnam's 'O Kadhal Kanamani' and South India's biggest ever blockbuster 'Baahubali'.

In 2016, the production ventures of Studio Green include films under various genres and most of them have been successful. Today Studio Green is a top production and distribution house in Tamil cinema and this status has been achieved mainly because of the hard work and perseverance of its founder.
