In addition to producing, he has domestically distributed a number of successful films. He opened up about numerous things in a recent interview.
Deepan Boopathy said that he started his career in the film industry with various technical roles, mainly as an executive producer. He added that he turned into a full-time producer due to Anirudh's encouragement. When asked about the struggles of modern-era film producers, Deepan answered that it is the dominance of OTT platforms. He stated that smaller films and independent filmmakers have a hard time being noticed on these platforms.
Deepan further continued that the industry should work unitedly to give space for various voices and stories and the lack of support for independent filmmakers and films is a serious matter of concern. He added that producers face challenges in attracting audiences to theatres while they are slowly tending towards watching cinema at their homes.
As Deepan Boopathy has been a friend of actor Simbu for a long time, he was asked about STR's redemption and recent success. He said, "I've known actor Silambarasan TR for twenty years, therefore I'm happy to witness his extraordinary success in recent blockbusters. I have no doubt that STR will go on to become a major international star. He and his passion will be an inspiration to others."
Talking about his current projects, Deepan said, "I want to make films that are relatable to everyone, dealing with issues that people face in real life. My main goal is to appeal to the young audience and provide content that will both entertain and inspire them on a deep level. The amazing projects I'm working on now will be released at the right time. These endeavours will benefit society and have a good effect on the film industry."
Deepan also shared insights about the changes in the film industry post the COVID pandemic. He stated that significant changes have taken place in the industry after COVID, particularly in the area of funding. Due to the increased risk for investors and production firms, finding funding for small films has grown more difficult. As streaming services have grown in popularity as distribution avenues, several production companies are now producing content specifically for these platforms.
