Fans of Tamil cinema were shocked when the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) named top heroes Simbu, Vishal, Yogi Babu, S.J. Suryah and Atharvaa as non cooperative and suggesting that they might be issued a red card. This means that producers will not be working with them in the future if pending issues are not resolved by the Nadigar Sangam (Actors Union).
In Simbu's case popular producer Ishari Ganesh who produced 'Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu' alleged that the hero had signed a multiple film deal with him but is not giving dates. He objected to Simbu starting his 48th film produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Desingh Periyasamy.
Simbu a couple of years back committed to star in the comedy movie 'Corona Kumar' directed by Gokul and bankrolled by Ishari Ganesh. As time went by he lost interest in the subject allegedly for two reasons one being director Gokul playing an important character in the film and two the novelty of the subject has waned since the Covid 19 pandemic has passed by.
It is now said that after several rounds of talks Simbu has agreed to star in a new movie for Vels Films International to be directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon who also has a multi film deal with the same production house. According to reports Simbu and GVM who were very good friends during 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya' and 'Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada' had creative differences during the making of 'Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu'. Simbu is said to have decided not to work with GVM anymore and opted out of another film they announced earlier.
Now the same sources suggest that since Simbu is under pressure from the Producer Council he decided to extend the white flag to GVM rather than forging a new alliance with some other filmmaker. If this deal is agreed upon then in all probability the decks will be cleared for 'STR 48' the costliest film in the hero's career which will go on floors in a few weeks time. Fans will then get to watch a new STR-GVM movie sooner rather than later. Lets wait for the official announcement.
