A few producers are up in arms against director Karthik Subbaraj for the allegedly poor portrayal of a film producer character in his latest creation 'Iraivi'. For the past few days there are rumors doing rounds that the Tamil Film Producers Council might issue a Red Card against Karthik for causing insult to film Producers.

On Saturday, Producer Suresh Kamatchi wrote a lengthy Facebook post criticizing Karthik for "causing insult to Tamil film producers". Producer P.L.Thenappan has also been vehemently criticizing the young filmmaker in his media interactions

An audio clip has been doing rounds in online platforms in which Producer K.E.Gnanavelraja who has taken part in the production and distribution 'Iraivi' says even he was not happy with the way the character has been portrayed and he share the sentiments of the producers who are pained by the film. He also says he as well as the other producers of the film will respect and support whatever action taken by the Producer's council in this matter. However the authenticity of this audio clip has not been established so we can not ensure whether the person speaking in the clip is Gnanavelraja or someone else misusing his name.

Meanwhile the Producer Council has met last evening to discuss about 'Iraivi'. Sources within the council say that it has been decided to seek the intervention of Film Directors Union to inquire the 'Pizza' director about the poor portrayal of the producer character in 'Iraivi'.

We will keep you posted with the further updates regarding this issue. Stay tuned.
