Producer KT Kunjumon on Thursday announced a sequel to ‘Gentleman’, the 1993 vigilante drama that featured Arjun Sarja in the lead role. Without elaborating much on the sequel, he said that the entertainer will be released in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
Shankar is unlikely to be its director. It has to be seen who will headline the cast. It will be difficult for anybody to step into the shoes of the Shankar-Arjun duo. More so, to fill the shoes of the legendary AR Rahman, whose timeless music for the film was critical to the film’s success. “Kunjumon had to distribute the film on his own since no distributors were willing to buy this film as they felt distributors felt that it looked like a dubbed film. Despite this, it became a major commercial success, running for over 175 days in theatres,” a Wikipedia entry says.
‘Gentleman’ was a year later remade in Hindi with Megastar Chiranjeevi as the lead man. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the film had Juhi Chawla reprising the role originally played by Madhoo.
