Although she doesn't play the title lead in the film, Priyanka Chopra is very grateful that she did 'Bajirao Mastani'. While one may wonder why the "Exotic" beauty gave her nod for the project, when Deepika Padukone plays 'Mastani' in the film while Pee Cee herself is the second lead - as that of Bajirao's wife Kashibai.

Sharing the real story in an interview, Priyanka revealed that actually she was the first person who was offered with the film. I did this film for (director) Sanjay Leela Bhansali," quoted Priyanka, who further went on say that SLB came to her with the script and stressed that he wanted her to be in the film. Remember Bhansali had chosen her to feature in special song in his last film 'Ram Leela'???

Talking about her role, Priyanka felt that Kashibai's character is very heart-breaking and quite feminine. Adding that it was very challenging role, Priyanka said that 'Bajirao Mastani' is a special film for her and it is super exciting to be part of the film.

With Ranveer Singh in the lead, 'Bajirao Mastani' is slated to release on December 18th 2015.
