Zeenat Aman posted nostalgic photos from her 1970s Bollywood career, including her 1974 film *Manoranjan*, on Instagram. Her evocative articles included images of herself in "flirtatious and sexy" movie gowns and discussed how the moral police of the time criticized the film. As Priyanka Chopra noted, the moral police are still working.
Zeenat played Nisha, a dignified, independent, and funny sex worker, in Shammi Kapoor's Manoranjan. She posted a red dress photo, the film's poster featuring Shammi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar, and a behind-the-scenes snap. Posting, she said, "The moral police have been my constant companion throughout my career. They had a great day with this one!" She said the picture, based on the 1963 American comedy *Irma La Douce*, broke several traditions.
Zeenat said that Shammi Kapoor directed *Manoranjan*, which starred Sanjeev Kumar and had RD Burman's soundtrack. She said the film was shot entirely in Mumbai studios. Noting her persona, she said, "Nisha was no damsel! She dressed flirtatiously and sexily, but more significantly, she was forthright about her job."
Believing herself a "director’s actor," Zeenat credited Shammi Kapoor with her best performance. She remembered "Aaya hoon main tujhko le jaoonga" with its enormous musical instruments and "Chori Chori Solah Singar," with Asha Bhosle's shower sequence.
The moral police aside, Zeenat remembered the 1970s as a time of innovation, independence, and fashion. After her post, Priyanka Chopra said, "Moral police seem to be here to stay! Heart-eye emojis accompany "You are beyond." Fashion designer Manish Malhotra and actor Archana Puran Singh also praised the film.
Zeenat made fewer films after her controversial 1985 marriage to Mazhar Khan, who died in 1998. Azaan and Zahaan Khan are her sons. Zeenat will return to acting in Showstopper.
