Priyanka Chopra is making her mark as an international celebrity now. She has starred in quite a few Hollywood projects and has several others under production. Priyanka was recently in an conversation with veteran actor Kabir Bedi as she launched his memoir, 'Stories I Must Tell: The Emotional Life Of An Actor'. During the chat, she opened up about a issue she faced while working in Hollywood.
Apparently, people would mispronounce her name as 'Shapra' and she had to teach them the right way to say it. Priyanaka said, "Everybody would be like Priyanka ‘Shapra-Shapra’. I said it is not Shapra. If you can say Oprah, you can say Chopra. It’s not that difficult.” She further shared that she had to take roles with unspecified ethnicity since there weren't many Indian roles in Hollywood projects.
Kabir Bedi, who has worked in Hollywood as well, could relate with her on this as he also played roles of various ethnicities in his career. He shared, "In the James Bond film, I was actually cast as an Indian, but in Ashanti with Micheal Kane, I played Tuareg tribesmen. In Bold and the Beautiful, I played a Moroccan prince, so it is playing the foreign tag that got me the roles."
