The gruesome rape and murder of Jisha, a Law student in Ernakulam, Kerala, on April 28, has left the nation shell-shocked and many celebrities have voiced their dissent over the recurrence of such incidents all over the country.

Actress Priyamani took to Twitter to express her anguish and has tweeted that India is not safe for girls and women, going to the extent of even asking them to leave the country to safe havens abroad. Though her tweet received support from some quarters, others took exception to it, branding her an "anti-Indian". This has made the soon-to-be-married actress busily defend herself, stating that she was only commenting about the sorry state of affairs in the country and that she was not speaking against the country by any stretch of imagination.

One has to be empathic toward Priyamani's genuine feelings and cannot brand her as this or that for expressing her outrage.
