In an interview given to Manorama Online he made it obvious his stand on Mamootty. He said he cherishes a good rapport with Mammootty and is not a Mammootty hater as said.

He rubbished the notion held by a vast section of audience that he is a hater of Mammootty. He added that he has a good rapport with the star and personal bonding and is one of the few people who could call Mammoottikka` as the most of the people in the industry call him Mammookka`. He said it started during the days of Madras life and in his debut movie there was a role set aside for the actor which was later done my veteran actor M. G. Soman.
