On Wednesday, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran dropped an official update on Lucifer 2: Empuraan, a sequel to his directorial debut Lucifer. The 2019 movie that featured Mohanlal, Prithviraj and Manju Warrier in the lead roles was a massive hit. It became the first film in the history of Malayalam cinema to breach the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. Sharing some glimpses from the upcoming sequel, the actor announced that the film's scripting had been completed and that the pre-production has begun. The actor took to his Instagram handle to share a picture of him smiling alongside Mohanlal, producer Antony Perumbavoor and scriptwriter Murali Gopi. Sharing the photo, the actor penned, "L2E. Team."

Meanwhile, the makers of the movie unveiled a 10-minute-long clip on their YouTube channel, that has the Empuraan team sharing their excitement for the new project. In the clip, Prithviraj Sukumaran spoke about how Lucifer was planned and how the upcoming sequel will be. Prithviraj noted that Empuraan will be a full-fledged commercial entertainer that will cater to all sections of the audience. Mohanlal, Murali Gopi and Antony Perumbavoor also shared their views on the upcoming movie and promised the audience that the film's team is aware of their responsibilities and fans' expectations.
