The Kerala theatrical release rights of 'Theri' has been acquired by August Cinemas. The surprising fact is that August Cinema is jointly owned by Malayalam superstar Prithviraj, Tamil actor Arya and veteran cinematographer-director Santhosh Sivan.

Vijay is extremely popular in Kerala and three top film industry celebrities buying the release rights of Vijay starrer is more than a proof for the star's phenomenal fan following in Kerala.

With this, the distribution rights of 'Theri' have been sold in four major locations USA, Canada, Coimbatore and Kerala in Tamil while the rights of the Telugu dubbed version has been acquired by Sri Venkateshwara Creations who will be releasing it in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
