Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is in the process of recovering after undergoing planned abdominal surgery, as revealed by Kensington Palace on Wednesday. The 42-year-old princess had the surgery at The London Clinic, and according to the palace statement, it was successful. Her expected hospital stay is ten to fourteen days before continuing her recovery at home.
However, it's noted that she's unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter, based on current medical advice.
The statement emphasized the princess's desire for privacy regarding her medical information and her wish to maintain normalcy for her children. Updates on her progress will be shared only when there is significant new information.
The princess expressed regret for postponing upcoming engagements and looks forward to reinstating them as soon as possible. It's clarified that the medical issue was non-cancerous, and after leaving the hospital, Princess Kate will recuperate at home in Windsor.
Prince William is expected to reduce public duties to support his wife and care for their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—during her recovery.
Princess Kate's last public appearance was on Christmas Day, accompanying the royal family for their annual church walk. Prince William made his first official outing of the year recently at Headlingley Stadium in Leeds, participating in efforts to combat Motor Neurone Disease alongside friends Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield.
