Princess Anne was taken to the hospital on Sunday night after an accident at Gatcombe Park left her with head injuries and a headache.

Monday Buckingham Palace said, "The Princess Royal sustained minor injuries and a concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening."

"Her Royal Highness remains in Southmeade Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery." The statement concluded, "King Charles has been informed and 'joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery,'' palace officials said.

Said to have been hurt by a horse while strolling on the royal estate, the 73-year-old Princess Royal She most likely had little head injuries from the horse's head or legs. Before she was driven to Southmead Hospital, emergency personnel attended to her on scene. Anne is still under medical observation and has just undergone tests and treatments.

"Her Royal Highness's activities for the next week will be postponed per doctor's recommendation. Her Royal Highness apologises to anyone who might be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result," her spokesman said.

Accomplished rider Princess Anne recently rode horses in the King's Trooping the Colour ceremonial.
