Prince Harry is allegedly nostalgic about his time in the UK, especially as summer royal events develop. Royal family members typically attend Trooping the Colour and Royal Ascot, which draw attention.
According to royal scholar Tom Quinn, author of "Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family," Harry wants to spend more time in England. The fact that Meghan Markle refuses to return to the UK complicates Harry's desire for more UK engagements.
"Prince Harry wants to spend more time in the UK, but he knows he may have to do it alone," Quinn told The Mirror. "Meghan has publicly stated she has no plans to return, creating a challenging situation if he hopes to rebuild positive relationships with his family."
Quinn also noted Harry's longing for his military friends and his understanding of being far from home now that the enthusiasm of relocating to California has subsided.
"After the initial thrill of moving to the US, the novelty has worn off and Harry is starting to feel the weight of time—he increasingly misses aspects of his former life in the UK," he said. "Despite his familial challenges, he has always cherished his friendships from his military and school days."
This follows news of Harry and Meghan's Cotswolds home, where they hosted guests away from the public eye during Frogmore Cottage renovations. In his memoir "Spare," Harry considered Frogmore his long-term home, an attitude that changed with time.
"This was supposed to be my forever home. Harry stated, "It was just another temporary stop," reflecting his changing views on home and belonging.
