Prince Harry is set to make a meaningful return to the U.K. next month, participating in an event that holds a special place in his heart. The Duke of Sussex, aged 38, will attend the annual awards ceremony for WellChild, a charity dedicated to seriously ill children, in London on September 7. With a 15-year history as the patron of WellChild, this is one of the few organizations he continues to support after stepping back from his royal duties in 2020.

The forthcoming WellChild event in England precedes Prince Harry's journey to Germany, where he will oversee the sixth edition of the Invictus Games, his renowned sporting competition.

While it's yet unclear whether Prince Harry will connect with any of his family members during his U.K. visit, he expressed his sentiment in a recent statement, emphasizing how WellChild has been making a difference for nearly two decades. He lauded the charity for prioritizing the well-being of children and young people through critical care, applauding their strength and courage along with the dedication of their supporters.

Prince Harry, who has attended 11 prior awards ceremonies, will spend time with the winners and their families at a pre-ceremony reception, offering his support and sharing their stories. He will also present the Award for Inspirational Child in the 4 to 6 age group and deliver a speech during the ceremony.

As the Chief Executive of WellChild, Matt James, pointed out, the awards serve as an opportunity to recognize the challenges these children face, celebrate their resilience, and acknowledge the dedication of their caregivers and professionals. This year's ceremony will shed light on their remarkable spirit and efforts in the face of adversity.
