During the awards ceremony on September 7, Harry revealed Meghan's desire to be present. Speaking with a family member, he mentioned that his wife was "very upset that she couldn't be here" before their upcoming busy week, according to Hello! Magazine. The royal couple is set to attend the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany, with Harry participating throughout and Meghan joining later.

Despite Meghan's absence, WellChild's chief executive, Matt James, expressed gratitude for Harry's attendance, stating, "We wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for his support." Last year, Harry and Meghan attended the awards but received news of Queen Elizabeth's critical condition before her passing on September 8. The Covid-19 pandemic forced adjustments and cancellations of the event in previous years.

This year, Harry interacted with caregivers and sick children, receiving a Belfast hockey jersey from recipient Blake McCaughey and hearing a song from 14-year-old Ruky Anighoro. James emphasized the positive impact of Harry's presence, bringing smiles and recognition to the children and caregivers who often go unnoticed.

While in the UK, Harry is not expected to meet with family members such as his father, King Charles, or his brother, Prince William, during his trip.
