Though September 11 is remembered for a gruesome act of terrorism with regards to the Twin Towers, there is something to cheer about on this day. It is actress Shriya Saran's birthday.

The actress who began her career with a Telugu film 'Ishtaam' has come a very long way as a leading actress who draws national attention. Shriya was raised in Haridwar and Delhi and was interested to learn Kathak when she was quite young. Then the acting bug bit her and she went on to learn acting.

Having made it big in the Telugu film industry, Shriya moved over to the Tamil film industry after numerous filmmakers wanted to cast her in their films. Along the line came director Shankar's 'Sivaji – The Boss' starring superstar Rajinikanth. Shirya was cast opposite the 'Style King' and the rest as they say is history. Shirya had become an actress drawing national attention.

The pretty damsel has even enthralled Hollywood producer Ashok Amritraj as she was cast in the Hollywood film 'The Other End of the Line' where Shriya plays a Call Center employee based in India and ends up falling in love with an American customer. Another English film 'What's cooking Stella?' is also in the pipeline.

Her impressive line-up of yet to be released Tamil films include the stylish 'Kandasamy' along with Vikram, 'Jaggubhai' with Sarath Kumar and directed by K. S. Ravikumar and a prominent role in Kamal Haasan's 'Marma Yogi'.

Shriya Saran is in dizzy heights twinkling happily among the stars for sure.
