Good mix in Anu Malik's first Telugu film
Tuesday, July 6, 2004 • Telugu Comments

Ace Hindi composer Anu Malik makes his debut in Telugu cinema with the Telugu-Kannada bilingual "Premnagar" with a good mix of tunes, dominated by fast paced numbers. The package is clearly aimed at producer-director S.V. Rajendrasingh Babu's target audience -- the youth.

Side A begins with the KK-Sadhana Sargam duet "Yedu rangula prema", a melody with heavy orchestration. This is followed by the racy chartbuster "Jaamu Jaamu" rendered by Sonu Nigam and chorus that reminds the listener of A.R. Rahman's "Chaiya Chaiya".

Then comes "Brahma Manndesi..." sung by Shaan and Mehboob, a catchy tune with matching lyrics.

The other side begins with the Sonu Nigam-Sadhana Sargam duet "L O V E Ke....", a fusion tune. After a repetition of "Jaamu Jaamu" is "Margayore" sung by KK, Jolly Mukerjee and Kalpana. This begins as a Hindi song but later shifts gears to end as a soft Telugu melody.

The producer has spent a fortune on hiring a Mumbai composer and top playback singers for the launch vehicle of his son.
