Premikulu

Woman film directors are rare as camels in Hyderabad  --- you spot one occasionally on special occasions.

The likes of Gurinder Chadha, Deepa Mehta, Tanuja Chandra have no real counterparts here. We just had an occasional Bhanumathi.

But Jaya hopes to change all that. Now, she is not a newcomer. She gave us the gritty entertainer Chantigadu.

Her second venture as director, Premikulu, is ready and will hit the theaters this month.

The movie has triggered heavy expectations in the industry as Jaya is seen to be a talented director.

The film, starring Yuvaraj and Kamna is a typical love story. The twist though is in the treatment ,says the director.

Yuvaraj is a newcomer but looks calm and composed. Kamna, from the family of Jethmalani's, is a hot property on the circuit. She has a regal charm and an agreeable boldness.

The two have plenty of glamour and gumption to come up with the goods.

Jaya too has lot of spunk and a nous for technology. She has taken recourse to technology (435 ARRI camera, 24 lens and 1200 zoom and Giraffe, touch-head cranes) showing that women are no slouches when it comes to modern gizmos.

The film's music is already a hit. Sajjan Madhav, son of Malayalam composer Ravindran, has come up with a unique blend of tradition and modern music. Sajjan has worked with AR Rehman and is hence expected bring the same lilt and rhythm to his craft.

Jaya looks like is on the way to living up to her name---victory.
