Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Review

Prem is back and how...

When there is The Salman Khan on the screens, all you expect is great entertainment. Now imagine if there are two??. Well, that is exactly what ''Prem Ratan Dhan Payo'' is. Amongst all the hype created by the film, its makers and its songs, the movie proves to be far more than you could have expected.

The story goes something like this. Vijay (Salman) is the royal prince of Pritampur and Prem (Again Salman) is a common man, who believes in doing good for people. While, Vijay is to get married to princess Maithali, it is Prem who is in love with her. Vijay, inspite of being a prince has many problems in his family, with his step brother wanting to take on his throne. Destiny takes a turn when Prem gets to live the life of Vijay. Now will Prem manage to come close to Maithali and tell her the truth and how he resolves Vijay''s family issues, forms the rest of the movie.

The one thing that director Sooraj Barjatiya excels in is that he does not change his style of helming with the changing times and Salman''s new avatar. He keeps it simple and the way he expertises at and I must say, it sure is a refreshing change. The movie manages to take you back to the wonderful 90''s where it was all about love, family, betrayal and love again. He gives us the Prem that was long lost and we couldnt love him more. The story is kept simple, even though predictable at times. Performance wise, PRDP is a sureshot hit. Salman as a prince and a common man is out of this world. He woos the audiences in every shot with his charm and lovable aura. Sonam, is equally good and looks and acts beautifully as a princess. Neil Nitin Mukesh makes a comeback with a blast. His expressions say it all. Swara Bhaskar is extremely talented and this movie proves to be just another feature on her cap. Deepak Dobriyal, Anupam Kher and Armaan Kohli are impressive and throw a tremendous act.

The songs, as you know, have already garnered much appreciation and each one has been beautifully fitted in the screenplay. The picturization is festive and makes you want to join in. The backdrop of castles, the colorful costumes and the royal set up is just enough to give you a royal feel.

This much awaited collaboration between Rajshri and Salman is what we were looking for to brighten our worlds this Diwali. If you have been missing the old 90''s, do not afford to miss this nostalgia trip. It sure is worth your money.
