Actress Preksha Mehta, aged 25, on Tuesday committed suicide at her home in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Known for the television series 'Crime Patrol' and a supporting role in Akshay Kumar's 'Padman', the youngster killed herself by hanging herself on the ceiling of her bedroom.
Days before her death, Preksha posted her last selfie on Instagram with a caption in Hindi that means: "The worst is when your dreams die". It is said that she also left a suicide note and neighbours have said that she was hit by the lockdown financially and was also depressed that she may not get jobs in the near future.
As quoted by Times Of India, here is what Prekha wrote in her suicide note: 'Mere toote huye sapno ne mere confidence ka dam tod diya hai, main mare huye sapnon ke saath nahi jee sakti. Iss negativity ke saath rehna mushkil hai. Pichle ek saal se maine bohot koshish ki. Ab mein thak gayi hoon'.
It was in 2018 that Preksha moved to Mumbai with her parents and was confident about making it big in Bollywood and was also noticed, but the pandemic-induced crisis in the entertainment industry seems to have hit her esteem badly. Only a week back actor Manmeet Grewal also committed suicide due to depression of losing out acting jobs due to the pandemic.
The two suicides only show that the lockdown has exacerbated the crisis in the entertainment industry very badly.
