A 20-year-old pregnant woman, who recently tested negative for COVID-19, lost her twins after she was turned away by multiple hospitals in Kerala.
According to the woman's husband NC Shareef, his wife Shahla was complaining of severe pain and was first taken to the Manjeri hospital at 4.30 a.m while the hospital refused to treat her as they were adamant about producing her PCR test result and not an antigen test result.
The couple then approached three other hospitals, that also denied treatment for the same reason, for 14 hours before the woman was finally admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital at 6 p.m. Following a bleeding, the women underwent C-section, but the babies were stillborn.
The woman's husband said that he is considering taking legal action against the hospitals. On knowing about the incident, Kerala's health minister K K Shailaja contacted the lady's husband and assured that the incident will be probed.
