Pregnant teen girl traced months after father sold her for Rs 7 lakh

A father in Rajasthan had sold off his 13-year-old daughter to a middleman back in June for Rs 7 lakh. In a case of human trafficking, the teen girl has been victimized. She has been traced with the help of Hyderabad police. The girl is now 4 months pregnant.

The inhuman act of the father came to light because the girl's uncle lodged a complaint with the police. As per the father, the girl was given away in marriage to a reputed family. But the uncle grew suspicious because the girl was nowhere to be heard.

An FIR was registered, followed by the filing of a habeas corpus petition.

Cases have been slapped under IPS Section 363 (kidnapping), Section 366 (for compelling the woman into unwilling marriage) and Section 384 (extortion).
