Pawan Kalyan has condoled the demise of Dr. Preethi, the first-year PG medical student from Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal. She was declared dead by Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad on Sunday. A few days ago, the deceased person attempted to die by suicide by taking an injection due to alleged harassment by Dr Saif, a senior.
Pawan Kalyan issued a statement saying that the demise of Preethi is deeply saddening. "May her soul rest in peace by God's grace. I extend my deepest condolences to her family. Preethi died by suicide, as she couldn't withstand the harassment by her senior Saif. Had the college management acted upon the complaint lodged by Preethi and her parents, the situation wouldn't have come to this. I demand that the person responsible for Preethi's death must be handed out the harshest punishment," the actor-politician said.
The Jana Sena Party chief also demanded that the governments must come up with strictures to contain ragging in Engineering and Medical colleges. "The thinking of seniors must undergo change. Juniors and freshers must be treated with friendliness. It's devilish to try to dominate and show hegemonistic attitudes against juniors," Pawan added.
