Actor Pratik Gandhi, who has been doing impressive work in OTT entertainment space lately, recently starred in a segment of Amazon Prime Video's anthalogy series 'Modern Love Mumbai'. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the segment is titled 'Baai' and it features Pratik in the role of a closeted gay man. During a recent conversation with The Indian Express, Pratik talked about his character and shared his experience of working on the project.
Apparently, Pratik enjoyed playing a character which is so diverse from his past performances. He said, "That’s the fun part. As an actor, we want to experiment. Also, I enjoy expressing complex human emotions. We don’t get such roles often and the idea of breaking the barriers in the audience’s mind was so exciting. The perception that I have, no one really expected me in this kind of a role.”
A significant part of 'Baai' revolves around Pratik Gandhi's character conversation about his sexuality with his grandmother, who is portrayed by veteran actress Tanuja. Sharing his experience of working with her, Pratik said, "She is what charisma is described as. She just lights up the screen. The first scene that we had together, we had to go up almost four flights of stairs. The building was without a lift and quite old, with steep stairs. I thought she must have got tired but as the camera started rolling, her energy level was on a different high. I just couldn’t take my eyes off her.”
