His mother with her performance in 'Bazaar' grabbed critical acclaims back in 1982 when it released. And now he, Prateik, is going to do the same movie in new style, with contemporary flavour...
News in the tinsel town is that Prateik has been considered for the remake of Smita Patil starrer 'Bazaar' to play Farouq Shaikh's character from the original.
The original, written and directed by Sagar Sarhadi, dealt with the issue of girl trade, where poor Indians sold off their daughters to rich Arabs in Gulf. According to sources, the remake version will be directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Sunil Bohra.
On being asked as to why they chose to remake 'Bazaar', Bohra replied to sources, "At a time when we are so short of powerful scripts, Sagar Sarhadi's story just blew me away."
It is said that initially when the producer had approached Sarhadi for the remake rights he had flatly refused the offer. Later when Bohra revealed that they are roping in Smitas son Prateik for Farouqs role, only did Sarhadi obliged.
Interestingly, if all goes as planned the young actor will get to share screen with the versatile actress Tabu, who is said to be perfect choice to play Smita Patil's role. The original film also had Naseeruddin Shah and Supriya Pathak who had won Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for the film.
However, the casting of the remake is yet to be finalised as of now....
Stay tuned till then....
