Gautham Menon's Tamil remake 'Prem Katha' which had been making news all the way has been renamed.

The romantic movie starring Prateik and Amy Jackson in lead has been now titled as 'Ek Deewana Tha'. The new title has been actually inspired from Rishi Kapoor's classic hit number 'Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha' (Karz) which in fact is Prateik's favourite song.

According to sources, the director wanted some abstract title for the movie, similar to the original Tamil movie 'Vannaithaandi Varuvaa' which meant, 'Will You Cross The Skies & Come?'. Then it was called 'Prem Katha' and now it has been titled 'Ek Deewana Tha' so as to make it hero-centric and to denote Pratiek's character.

Apparently Prateik, who is keen to do only solo-hero project now, favoured this change.

Some also claim that it was Salman Khan's forthcoming project 'Ek Tha Tiger' that influenced to have a change of title.
