Actor Prashanth who ruled the roost as the young superstar in Kollywood in the late 80s and 90s has not had any good outing at the box office for the past several years as his recent films 'Mambatiyan', 'Pulan Visaranai 2' and 'Saahasam' bombed miserably at the box office. Prashanth is currently starring in a new film titled 'Johnny' directed by Pa. Vetriselvan and produced by his dad Thiagarajan.

It has been announced that director Mani Ratnam would be releasing the teaser of 'Johnny' on August 27th on Prashanth's YouTube channel. The film has Sanchitha Shetty as Prashanth's leading lady while Prabhu, Anandaraj, Devadarshini, Ashutosh Rana and Sayaji Shinde costar. It may be recalled that Prashanth starred in the Mani Ratnam film 'Thiruda Thiruda' in 1993.
