Pranchiyettan was an attempt for difference: Renjith

As his latest film for this Ramzan 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' has opened to rave reviews for its rare kind of story telling, its writer-director Renjith confirms that it was an attempt to create something different even while remaining a part of mainstream cinema. Renjith was speaking to the Media at the Kannur Press Club.

The regularly repeated themes are keeping the audience away from the theatres and so it is high time for Mollywood to try something different without insulting the intelligence of the most learned viewers. The director opined that Mollywood was like an animal tied to a peg and that it was helplessly revolving around it.

Renjith also finds that the success of other language films in the state, is not merely on account of their big budgets and technical backup, but also due to their different story telling and rare characterisations.
