Ranjith's new movie 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint', is turning out to be a safe hit for its distributors 'Playhouse' owned by its leading star Mammootty. The movie which was reported to take an opening week gross of 1.42 crores has repeated the feat also in the second week, making a total collection of around three crores.

The movie has now amassed around Rs 1.60 Crore as distributors share from its 60 odd releasing centers. 'Pranchiyettan', which was shot in 31 days, is a low budget flick. The movie which is going particularly strong in Thrissur, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram, is quite popular among the families.

The interesting trivia of the movie is that Ranjith was forced to go to Goa to shoot the church sequences of the film, as no church authorities in Kerala were willing to allow the shoot of the movie on its premises. Their search ended in an old Church in Goa where the art director made a beautiful statue of St Francis, which was gifted to the same church after the shoot.
