Actor Prakash Raj has delivered a sharp response to Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan's remarks amidst the ongoing Tirupati Laddu controversy, which has stirred both the film industry and the political arena. The dispute began with allegations of adulteration in the Tirumala Laddu, sparking reactions from prominent figures, including Prakash Raj and Pawan Kalyan, who have exchanged comments on the matter via social media.
Recently, Pawan Kalyan addressed the media following a purification ritual at the Kanakadurga temple in Vijayawada, during which he countered Prakash Raj's earlier tweets. Pawan questioned why Prakash Raj was involving himself in the debate, suggesting that Raj was misrepresenting the issue. Pawan denied any intention of disrespecting religion and stressed that secularism should not be viewed in a one-sided manner, stating that he holds respect for Prakash Raj.
In a swift response, Prakash Raj, currently abroad for a film shoot, issued a counter to Pawan's remarks. He clarified that Pawan Kalyan had misunderstood his original tweet and expressed surprise at Pawan’s interpretation of his message. Prakash Raj indicated that he would address the issue in detail once he returns to India, advising Pawan to reread his tweet for clarity, lacing his comment with a touch of sarcasm.
The controversy, however, took a new turn as Janasena Party supporters, particularly from its social media wing "Shataghni," rallied behind Pawan Kalyan. In their tweets, they claimed they had fully understood Prakash Raj’s message and defended Pawan Kalyan’s stance, emphasizing that he was taking the matter seriously in consultation with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. They pointed out that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had already been formed to address the adulteration allegations and underscored the importance of condemning any actions that hurt Hindu sentiments globally.
One of the key tweets from Janasena supporters raised concerns about Prakash Raj’s perceived double standards regarding secularism. They questioned his silence on issues affecting Hindus while being vocal about matters concerning other religions, implying that Raj’s personal biases might be influencing his views on the Tirupati Laddu issue. They urged him to understand the religious significance of the controversy and not impose his "personal hatred" on the situation.
As the debate intensifies, it remains to be seen how Prakash Raj will address the growing criticism upon his return and whether this back-and-forth will escalate further in the political discourse.
