A theatre personality named Prasanna Heggodu has gone on a fast demanding that handmade products should be taxed at zero. Extending his support, Prakash Raj is now taking part in the fast.

"A Sathyagraha which will gain momentum to uplift the rural life of our country. Please join hands with Prasanna and the Grama Seva Sangha," the actor tweeted. Ever since the GST was introduced, traditional crafts have reportedly been subjected to this unfavorable tax regime.

In another development, Prakash Raj has condemned the attack on a techie in Bengaluru by a mob. "Attack on Nandhini for complaining against illegal cow slaughter and the police abandoning her despite being aware of the tense situation is unacceptable," he tweeted.

He was recently in the news for slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence over journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder.
