Prakash Raj, Umashree honored

The national award winning actor Prakash Raj and Umashree were honored on Friday evening at Badami House by Chitra Samooha team. The Jnanapeeth award winner Girish Karnad did the honors on behalf of Chitra Samooha to 2007-2008 state and national film award winners. Girish Kasaravalli, Basanthkumar Patil for Gulabi Talkies, P Ram Das Naidu, Beerappa for ‘Moggina Jade’, Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, K Manju for ‘Mathad Mathadu Mallige’, Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa for ‘Ekalavya’, Umashanker for ‘Banadha Neralu’ S Ramachandra for handling camera for three award winning films received the honors.

Speaking on this occasion the fourth time national award winning actor Prakash Raj said getting such national honor is more than any remuneration. I know that I am the best actor for only that year films. In film media actor is not the cinema. It is only the director who brings in everything needed for the film. Pointing to the cinema in culture of the people Prakash Raj said it should be cultivated with joint effort.

Actress Umashree who made it to the felicitation after narrowly escaping a road accident near Bidadi on her way from Mysore to Bangalore thanked the fortune. I am here today means the God wants more work me said Umashree. I am happy because the industry, media and people are feeling happy for my national award. I would say it is only because of such a role crafted by Girish Kasaravalli this award is possible.

Secretary to Kannada and culture department Jayaramaraje Urs, Information director Vishukumar, Girish Karnad, Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman TS Nagabharana, MS Sathyu, jury member of national film awards Kesari Haravu and others from the Kannada film industry attended the felicitation function.
