Prakash Raj is into active politics now and has also stood as an independent candidate in Karnataka in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2019. He is currently camped in New Delhi for a week where he is going to campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party.
It is said that during a speech Prakash Raj stated that the students of Tamil Nadu are grabbing the seats meant for Delhi students and that he also asserted in his speech that he is not a Tamilian but a proud Kannadiga. It is an opinion that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has been voicing in his latest speeches and assuring that he would take back the seats from the Tamil students and give it to their Delhi counterparts. Apart from netizens the Tamil Students Association leader Saravana Rahul has condemned the speech of Prakash Raj.
Producer G. Dhananjayan has taken to twitter and asked Prakash Raj "Is it true @prakashraaj sir? Did you speak like this? I hope it's not true & you were misquoted. In India Students from anywhere can study & make a career. No one can restrict that. I made my career studying at #Mumbai & ever grateful. So is the case of thousands studying here".
Prakash Raj has replied "YES .. Dhananjayan... thank you for clarifying with me .... I NEVER SAID THAT. .. it’s DELIBERATELY MISQUOTED WITH BAD INTENTIONS.. SHAME on those who stoop to this level ..".
