Prakash Jha's take on kidnapping industry in Bihar

After dealing with patriarchy and police blindings in his home state Bihar, Prakash Jha is back this Friday with another hard-hitting tale in "Apaharan" that deals with the kidnapping industry.
Jha has teamed up with his favourite actor Ajay Devgan, who got a lot of critical acclaim for his powerful performance in "GangaaJal", in this tale about the police-politician nexus that has made kidnapping for ransom a flourishing industry.
The film revolves around Ajay Shastri (Ajay Devgan), a young man who dreams of becoming a police officer and making his father proud. He works hard to fulfil his dreams and when his passport to status, respectability and love seem within reach, he gets a setback from his self righteous father, Professor Raghuvansh Shastri (Mohan Agashe).
It turns his life upside down and he finds himself pushed into a world where there is no hope for anything except destruction.
It not only crushes his hopes but also ruins his dreams of marrying his beloved Megha (Bipasha Basu).
The film will also see Nana Patekar in the role of Tabrez, a politician involved in kidnapping and murder.
The socially and politically relevant film, which comes after Jha's "Mrityudand" and "GangaaJal", was shot entirely on location. The film had a start-to-finish schedule and was completed in about 14 months.
