Pradeep Ranganathan to replace Simbu in long delayed project?

The multitalented Tamil entertainer Simbu after a long gap made a big comeback with Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Maanaadu’ costarring S.J. Suryah.  The film with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music turned out be one of the biggest blockbusters in recent times and also received high critical acclaim.

Simbu’s last year’s release ‘Vendhu Thanindhadhu Kaadu’ directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon also was a big hit at the box office and his performance was unanimously praised.  Now all eyes are on Simbu’s next release ‘Pathu Thala’ directed by Obeli N Krishna which is hitting the screens in Summer 2023.

Fans of STR are eagerly awaiting updates on what his next project could be and there were reports that he may start ‘Corona Kumar’ which he signed a couple of years back for Vels Films International.  However sources say that Simbu has opted out of the long delayed project and that Pradeep Ranganathan has been approached to replace him.

Pradeep Ranganathan is hot in the trade after his ‘Love Today’ which he directed and costarred with Ivana went on to create history by becoming one of the biggest hits of 2022.  However the official announcement regarding his involvement in ‘Corona Kumar’ is awaited.

‘Corona Kumar’ is touted as a spinoff of Vijay Sethupathi’s cult classic dark comedy  ‘Idharku Thaaney Aasaipattai Balakumara’ directed by Gokul.  The director has already completed a new movie ‘Singapore Saloon’ starring R.J. Balaji due to the delay.
