Prabhu Deva to blow another candle today

Choreographer, Actor and Director Prabhu Deva celebrates his birthday today.
Prabhu Deva entered the film industry as a dance assistant in his father and National award winning dance choreographer SundaramÂs troupe. He elevated as a choreogpraher with the Mani Ratnam film Agni Natchathiram that released in 1988. Till date Prabhu Deva has choreographed dance for hundreds of songs in many Indian language films. He is also considered as the Indian Michael Jackson.
Being a dance assistant cum choreographer Prabhu Deva started appearing in dance number in many films. He appeared as lead male dancer in a few item songs of early 1990Âs including the famous ÂChikku Bukku number composed by A.R.Rahman for ShankarÂs debut film Gentleman. This made his face popular among Tamil audience and he debuted as the lead actor in the film Indhu. Director Shankar also capitalized the face value of Prabhu Deva by casting him as the lead hero in his second film Kadhalan
Prabhu Deva remained one of the top hero in Tamil and Telugu film industries until early 2000Âs before he ventured in filmmaking. His debut directorial 'Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana' starring Siddharth and Trisha in lead roles was one of the huge blockbusters of Telugu cinema. The film was remade in many languages and it is currently being remade in Hindi as 'Ramaiya Vastavaya' with with Girishkumar and Shruthi Haasan in lead roles.
Prabhu Deva debut directorial in Tamil was 'Pokkiri' starring Vijay which is a remake of the Mahesh Babu starrer Telugu flick with the same title, directed by Puri Jagannath. He directed another film with Vijay titled as 'Villu' and the Tamil remake of Telugu film Shouryam as 'Vedi' with Vishal in the lead role. His last film in Tamil as a director was Engeyum Kadhal that released in 2011 as a breezy romance starring Jeyam Ravi and Hansika.
In 2009 Prabhu Deva directed the Hindi version of the action flick as ÂWanted with Salman Khan in the lead role. The filmÂs success also served as a fitting launch pad for Prabhu DevaÂs Bollywood career as a director. Prabhu Deva remade Karthi starrer Tamil film Siruthai as 'Rowdy Rathore' with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles which collected 17 billion US dollars at the box office. Now he is remaking the Telugu super hit film Dhookudu in Hindi as 'Action Jackson' with Akshya Kumar and Sonakshi SInha playing the lead roles.
