Prabhas chooses a highly risky genre

Prabhas has always played safe in his career, barring very few exceptions like 'Chakram'. The biggest risk, however, has been taken now.

The 'Baahubali' and 'Saaho' actor has chosen to do a sci-fi film, which is to be directed by 'Mahanati' director Nag Ashwin. Among all the genres, Indian filmmakers across film industries are wary of science-fiction. It must be because not many in rural India find the genre exciting. It could also be because Hollywood is leagues ahead in this genre and there is no reason why the multiplex audience should miss it just because Indians don't do it. Also, with the budget that most production houses can afford, sci-fi is better left untouched.

Prabhas has taken a radical step by choosing the genre, that too at a time when the stakes around his films are at an all-time high. It's not known how much Vyjayanthi Movies is going to spend on the yet-to-be-shot project. Given that Nag Ashwin is planning to go international with the project, the budget should run into hundreds of crores. Is some other production house or a studio joining Vyjayanthi?

The film will release in late 2021 or early 2022.
