The co-stars of 'Attarintiki Daredi' have found their 'dari' to help the lot of handloom weavers. It was only a few weeks ago that Pawan Kalyan and Samantha, in two separate initiatives, took up the cause of the beleaguered 'chenetha karmikulu'. Directly or indirectly, politically or otherwise, they both are essentially working towards that.

If Pawan Kalyan has lent his support to 'chenetha satyagrahis' and has even volunteered to be the brand ambassador of hand-loom weaving, Samantha has responded to a call given by Telangana Minister KTR for one and all by offering to become the Handloom ambassador of TSCO.

In their own ways, both these superstars are promoting the use of khadi.

Powerstar has urged the governments of AP and Telangana to redress the grievances of the weavers, who have been facing the brunt of competition from powerloom industries. Besides, he has urged the people to wear khadi for atleast a day in a week.

Samantha, too, is strongly feeling about the cause. She has asked a handloom activist to brief her on the steps to be taken to improve the wages of the workers.

Powerstar and Lucky Star are representing the interests of those dependent for their livelihood on a neglected sector. This is an example for others to follow.
