'Jathi Ratnalu', one of the biggest comedy classics of Telugu cinema, is going to roar at the upcoming edition of the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) ceremony. The entertainer, directed by Anudeep KV and produced by Swapna Cinema, has clocked in eight nominations. Naveen Polishetty, who was seen as a ladies' emporium shopkeeper in search of a white-collar job, has received the Best Actor nomination.
The 'Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya' actor has attributed the windfall of nominations to the "Power of the audience". He added that the film has been made by outsiders who hail from middle-class families. He thanked the audience for making it a massive blockbuster, which raked in Rs 70 crore.
"The real award is always the love you showed us but this also brings hope to middle-class dreams:) #SIIMA2022 #JathiRatnalu (sic)," Naveen tweeted.
The film, co-starring Faria Abdullah, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna, had Murli Sharma in the role of a politician. Its music was by Radhan. The song 'Chitti' became a big hit.
